Department of Neuroscience Computer/Electronic Facility Support

The Department of Neuroscience is pleased to offer the services of Konrad Kondratowicz, Senior Staff Associate, in its Computer/Electronic Facility. Konrad has 30 years of experience and specializes in the following:

Provide Research and Advice on New Hardware and Software Purchases

The facility serves as a resource with the latest information on computer hardware and software systems, including data acquisition and other biomedical instruments that might be required for a specific project.

Provide Help with Installation of Hardware and Software Systems


While some hardware and software installations will be simple, the majority will require adherence to local network infrastructure. The facility will assist, and if necessary, install such systems to ensure proper operation.

Troubleshooting and Repairs

A major function of this facility is to identify and repair any hardware or software problems. This will include Macintosh, Windows and Linux computers as well as other biomedical instruments for monitoring, processing and data acquisition systems. The facility also provides data recovery from crashed computer hard drives.

Programming

Most software will be acquired commercially; however, certain circumstances may require a very specific program or modification to existing software to conduct an experiment. In those instances the electronics facility will provide complete programming services.

Electronics Design

The Electronics Core Facility, which is equipped with computerized design and simulation system (OrCad and SPICE), is fully qualified to design and construct a wide range of electronic equipment with features not readily available commercially. The range of expertise is from amplifiers, filters to advanced digital signal processing and laser based instruments.

Billing:

Konrad will provide all clients with an estimated numbers of hours required to complete their project.  All billing will be processed on the last day of the month in which the work is completed (i.e., if the project is finished on January 15, you will be charged on January 31st for the total actual cost of the project).  A valid FAS account number must be provided prior to the commencement of work.  

The hourly rate for all projects is $70.

Diagnostic:

Konrad is also available to provide diagnostic services.  The hourly rate for this service is $50.00.  A valid FAS account number must be provided prior to the commencement of work.
