Two subsets of the Department’s faculty members at this location constitute the Center for Theoretical Neuroscience and the Mahoney-Keck Center for Brain and Behavior Research. Other members of the department’s faculty are located elsewhere in the research buildings of the Medical Center, where they are distributed among the Departments of Cell Biology and Pathology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, Physiology and Cellular Biophysics, Pharmacology, and Radiology, as well as Department of Neuroscience space in the Hammer Health Science Building. Rafael Yuste’s laboratory is located in the Department of Biological Sciences on Columbia’s Morningside Campus.

The laboratories of the Department’s faculty members are fully equipped to perform state-of–the art research across the entire spectrum of neuroscience, from molecular biophysics of ion channels to functional human brain imaging.
